2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - The Montero Sport 4WD now includes a 3-link coil-spring rear suspension for a smoother ride. Mitsubishi utilizes one-piece stamping and specially treated insulation in order to keep out the road noise. The floor and cargo carpeting are specially lined to further block out the outside noise. New for this year, the Montero Sport has larger front brakes, and a limited slip differential is available on the XLS and standard on the LTD. Other changes for this year include color-keyed bumpers, new 16 wheels, P255/70R16 tires and restyled front grille. Several changes have been made to the interior such as an additional 12-volt power outlet, two-tone interior, driver side lumbar support and an immobilizer system built into the ignition key.
